The viable way forward in the short term would be to vendor the
tomcat9-user files that dogtag needs.

You can't just pull a package from kinetic and expect it to work as-is.
The kinetic deb was built against libjansson 2.14-2. You'd need to
rebuild certmonger from kinetic on jammy to allow it to install with
jammy dependencies.

Lena, I can help with the bind-dyndb-ldap backports. The version in
lunar has everything, it should be backportable as-is to kinetic, but I
wonder if the same would be fine for jammy too.

ok, well in any case it's not freeipa-client that modifies
nsswitch.conf, but libnss-sss in it's postinst, and in there it doesn't
add the sss entries if nsswitch.conf doesn't exist

Fix
The current blocker for 24.04 is bind-dyndb-ldap requiring a rebuild
every time bind9 is updated. I've proposed merging the packaging to
src:bind9, but it was shot down
https://salsa.debian.org/dns-team/bind9/-/merge_requests/21
because updates also include new upstream major releases which
Oh and Redhat hasn't migrated to tomcat10 yet, and tomcatjss/dogtag-pki
won't build with it. And 24.04 will likely get rid of tomcat9.

https://pagure.io/bind-dyndb-ldap/issue/222
but since 9.19 should become 9.20 in March, maybe upstream will fix it
in time for noble release. But in the meantime b-d-l would have to be
removed from noble until that happens.

Hang on, the bits it needs from tomcat9 can be vendored inside dogtag-
pki, and dependency for tomcat9-user dropped. But it would still need
libtomcat9-java to be available, which AIUI should be fine as Debian is
shipping it as well.

Hmm, maybe the rabbit hole goes too deep which makes it unfeasible to
vendor everything (and rather pointless), in which case this should get
removed indeed.
