Actually Rob has been working on errata that would fix some of the 5.6
issues.
Please watch the ipa-client errata to come soon.

That is correct. The ipa-client being released in RHEL 5.7 (and the
forthcoming RHEL 5.7 beta) will be updated to work properly with late
changes to the FreeIPA v2 server.
