environments; our caller id works fine and none of them has failed in over a
year of being used. The thing that i dislike about the GXW series is that it

A question to clarify:
do you have an extension on your dialplan that matches john or bob and
bridges the call?
If you don't, you need to create it, if you do have it but it doesn't work,
post the cli output for when you try to call so we can see what is going on.

I'm using the inbound event socket to receive some information about the
status of my FreeSWITCH system and i wanted to know if there is an api
command that can be used to get the FreeSWITCH time, I tried searching
around in the docs and in google but i couldn't find an answer.
Check the freeswitch log when the dtmf are being received, most likely your
device is sending them both as Dave says, maybe the telephone you're dialing
with sends it both inband and rtp. What does the log says?

You're right, the gxw is not alerting fs at all, i did some testing and
there is absolutely nothing on the debug console (after pressing F8) between
the moment i put the user on hold and the moment i pick up the call again.
