"i) A higher quality mode in the 2400 bit/s range. Maybe wideband audio. We could get this into 2000 Hz of RF and SNRs of less than 10dB." This is exactly what the masses are waiting on. Having an HF mode that would provide good voice quality with fallback to 700D robustness at the click of

In other STM32 news ... Richard is doing some fine work on a cmake build system for codec2-dev/stm32. Down the track (sooner if I can get some help) I'd like to add a series of unit tests for the new modems and Codec 2/FreeDV modes to assist in porting and to verify the performance is

Hello List, OK, so we have FreeDV 700D which is competitive to SSB at low SNRs. This is comprised of the Codec 2 700C speech, powerful Forward Error Correction (FEC), and the new OFDM modem. I am now taking a look at improving speech quality with some new Codec 2 modes, the idea is to drop

Hello, I spent some time working with the F765 chip evaluating Codec2 (everything above 700). Did you try putting all memory used by Codec2 into the TCM RAM? It made a huge difference when I was testing. Cheers, Marko -Original Message- From: Danilo Beuche Sent: June 6, 2018 2:39

Hi Danilo, I'm surprised that (especially) the tx is too slow for that class of CPU. The modem (especially the modulator) is quite simple in terms of CPU compared to the early parallel tone modems, e.g. for FreeDV 1600. On a x86 I get similar CPU load for 1600 and 700D - and 700D has

Hi, I have been working to get FreeDV 700D running on the STM32F743 as part of the UHSDR firmware. After being stopped for while by a bug in the STM supplied data cache init code I was able to get the OVI40 TRX to transmit for a brief moment the FreeDV sound to my RX. But unfortunately the

Hi Sumek, If you want to look at the effect of the postfilter (for Codec 700C) try to change the postfilter parameters in postfilter.c to Margin 16, Thresh 5 and Beta 0.6 while at the same time changing the pf_gain to 2.5 in newamp1.c. This lead me to a audible increase in (subjective)

Thanks for the kind feedback David. The noise analysis was a real eye-opener for me.  Even if my dB numbers turned out to be off by a bit, the comparison to the analog signal in identical noise helped me "visualize" the performance improvement. You make a good point about the nonlinearities
