Hi Alan,
Please don't be dissapointed. On HF, there is no big need for a repeater. The 
ionosphere is already in a way the repeater we need. A repeater would be 
creating some sort of multipath and messing up the signal. But on VHF and above 
it could be useful. There already are people experimenting with freedv on low 
SNR tropo ducting and E-skip to replace SSB. As a low power Ambe alternative is 
also interesting, but adoption is generally slow for new things and people 
don't write about it unless it's published in a journal or something.
Please keep up working and refining the concept and users will come in time.
