Hi Danilo, That might have been my mistake, I edited Walter's instructions for the manual. Haven't tried the Windows method myself (it's an effort for me to run Windows here). Re: [Freetel-codec2] sm1000 and FreeDV 700D
Hi, I am not sure that I understand Walter's procedure as it is documented in the sm1000_manual.md This procedure will first dump the existing flash of the sm1000 to a .dfu file. But it will not produce a new dfu file from the sm1000v2.bin file. If one flashes the dfu file created in the first step as described with the "Upgrade" procedure, you have exactly what you had before on the device. To create a sm1000v2.dfu file on Windows you may use the "DFU File Manager" which is installed in addition to the DFUSeDemo tool from the ST Package linked. However, it is not trivial to operate without instructions. But I think, the easiest way is if David provides us with a dfu file in addition to the bin file. There is a small python script in the UHSDR project which does just that. https://github.com/df8oe/UHSDR/tree/active-devel/mchf-eclipse/support/hex2dfu and the respective call is hex2dfu.py sm1000v2.hex sm1000v2.dfu There are probably more ways to create a dfu file on Linux but this one works. Thank Steve, Could you please add that as a Pull Request for the sm1000 manual? https://github.com/drowe67/codec2/blob/master/stm32/doc/sm1000_manual.md Walter's method is already in there, but it would be useful to have your's as well. You will not need to rename the file, but you WILL need to change the filename in the command line your using, to address the newer file. When I start DfuSeDemo there is no device. When I check hardware I see a UDB device without driver. If I do not press PTT when switching on, there is nothing. Re: [Freetel-codec2] sm1000 and FreeDV 700D
Here's how I did it on my Windows 8.1 Pro laptop machine for a friend. Seemed to work, haven't tested sm1000 yet. Your Experience May Vary 73, Steve/k5okc Boot Windows 8 Right-click on Left Window icon and select Driver Manager Turn on SM-1000 and holding in the PTT button STM32 BOOTLOADER should show up in Other Devices Right click on that and select Update Driver Search Internet option and it should find STM Device in DFU Mode click close This driver should appear now under Universal Serial Bus controllers Go to: https://zadig.akeo.ie/ Download zadig by clicking on Zadig 2.4 after download click on it to run, say Yes to install go to options in zadig and select "list all devices" STM OOTLOADER should show up the usb id should be 0483 DF11 click on replace driver close zadig go to device manager again you should see STM32 BOOTLOADER in Universal Serial Bus devices download sm1000v2.bin from David's site: http://www.rowetel.com/downloads/codec2/smartmic/sm1000v2.bin Go to: http://dfu-util.sourceforge.net/releases/dfu-util-0.8-binaries/win32-mingw32/dfu-util-static.exe open a command-line window (I used admin mode) CD to your Download directory after it downloads, rename it to dfu-util.exe dfu-util --version It should be .8 type: dfu-util -d 0483:df11 -c 1 -i 0 -a 0 -s 0x0800 -D sm1000v2.bin the firmware should begin loading. When complete, power off SM1000, unplug USB, turn back on and you are done. Re: [Freetel-codec2] sm1000 and FreeDV 700D
I've been watching the PR with interest and have taken the plunge with a couple of SM1000's to play along with. A huge thanks again to the everyone who helped get to this point. As far as use cases go, I'm going to try and put these to use with some old QMAC HF-90's for deep bush bashing type work where you really don't want to drag a computer. SSB is pretty average at the best of times (plus lots of compromised antennas) so it is exciting to see how 1600 and 700D might go in the same conditions. 73 Sam VK2GPL___ Freetel-codec2 mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freetel-codec2
Re: [Freetel-codec2] sm1000 and FreeDV 700D
Wow, really great news and fantastic work by everyone to get that to fit into the SM1000. I am definitely looking forward to seeing a bin file version of this for flashing when it's ready for testing. Many thanks to all for the development on this. Re: [Freetel-codec2] SM1000 and FreeDV
Hi All, does this SM1000 effect any significant improvement of FreeDV's current performance? If yes, what's the reason for? 73, Helmut, DC6NY Von: Gerhard Burian [mailto:[email protected]] Gesendet: Dienstag, 12. Mai 2015 14:48 An: [email protected] Betreff: [Freetel-codec2] Setting up the new SM1000 Hi there, I got my SM100 yesterday and just set it up on my FT-897D. Please be aware that the RJ45 pinout on this YAESU is different from the description in "SM1000 FreeDV Adaptor". If someone wants to use the CN12 please with the FT-897D please connect: pin 7 to pin 9 (GND), pin 6 to pin 14 (PTT), pin 5 to pin 15 (RIG MIC), pin 4 to pin 11 (MIC GND) and pin 10 (PTT GND) to pin 13 (SPKR GND). Maybe it also works without the speaker ground and direct connection from pin 7 to pin 13. The RJ45 of the FT-897D doesn't have a speaker signal, so the headphone output has to be used with a separate cable. I could easily set the correct driving level not to produce any ALC on the PA. First tests show good audio on direct SSB RX and TX. This evening will proceed with codec2 tests.
