I can't repeat that, using gcc 4.8.5 & libtool 2.4.6. On my GNU/Linux
box, everything compiles fine. Please give exact details on your
setup. Are there any peculiarities in `config.log'?

Ditto. We need more details on what components you are using.

I am fairly sure fedora 27's libtool is fairly recent. AFAIK it is 2.4.6
(according to
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=776 ). Away from home
machine ATM.

I saw it, I just don't have the patience to find out why. It was up to date git
(18 commits after 2.9.0, from 'git describe
origin/master',VER-2-9-18-g036bdc0c9 ).
The same problem was not seen with 2.9 . it is only seen by patching with the
result from "git diff VER-2-9..origin/master" .

You have windres but your libtool sees only half of it. This might
have been fixed since 2002:
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/libtool.git/commit/?id=e00af245ecba14d72befb622e0750839cb143654

I do not see how this is even possible with current git.

[ft-devel] The new libtool "--tag=RC" addition broke cross compilation

2018-02-04 Thread Hin-Tak Leung
As subject. The new "--tag=RC" is not understood by libtool - the unix version,
or the older version, or something, and broke cross compilation. Removing that
change in unix-cc.in fixes the problem.

In addition, there is now a pile of warnings about FT_EXPORT being redefined
within the few lines in ftconfig.h around line 500.
