Have you noticed that recently they changed the streaming tecnology? They
used to use flv over http and now they have changed it to rtmp. As far as I
know there is no client for linux (besides the official flash player)
capable of handling such transport.
Have you been able to workaround that

of the RTVE's pages.
However, I have just checked your assertion regarding of the change to the RTMP

This getiplayer is very interesting.. It'd be very nice to strip out the
part that does the actual downloading of the rtmp given a url.
I'll try to talk to the developer.

Indeed, the Spanish TV (aka RTVE) is carrying out major changes in its
streaming service. We had better wait a few days to see how they evolves.
