I think the tvserver is mis-representing the recordings incorrectly. Whenever I try and manually add a recording (by changing the recordserver.fxd) is categorizes all "recordings" as conflict even if it's the only entry.

I am not currently near my box but I had similiar issue. Check you
dmesg outputs for what is happening to ivtv. Also try manually
running the the mplayer command the way freevo does. When I get back
in front of my freevo box I will see what I did to fix it.

Not usre exactly what you are trying to do here, but the
recordserver is accessed via a web interface or through the freevo tv
guide and thus will not work with IR directly.

Freevo handles LIRC and at least for my use jukebox duties. As for teh
back trace it looks like python is getting lost about display. Not
usre why that would be occuring. What is "mpd" and "ncmpc" ?

I've recently built a freevo box, and am enjoying the heck out of it.
I've got an external command I'm running via commands.py, which
basically fires up an xterm running ncmpc for my jukebox.
