If you were gonna go with a cell backup, you might find a 3G stick
easier. You can send SMS with these, or just access the net. The Huawai
ones work really well with recent Linux, not as sure about the others.

A much better bet is to set up the system to email you. Pictures of
the intruder captured by your motion sensing cameras can be attached
to said email.
Much easier than rigging up cell phones.

There are wireless IP cameras out there that can send out alerts when
there are motion changes which would do the trick.
I've found a couple on newegg at a quick glance but I've never tested
them for myself... perhaps there are others out there
that could recommend one?
