I'm not sure that's a proper assumption.
Gthumb works well enough for me on both Ubuntu (18.04) and FreBSD (12.0).
No crashes at all so far.

So I ran "man fvwm" and checked the stlye options, but "MaxWindowSize"
isn't really what I want,
