From my experience with users new to FVWM, there's no easy way for them
to create a config that is usable and looks good. They don't spend the
time needed and therefore get a bad taste in their mouth and don't
return.
Is there anything that can help them? Are there plans to create some

As to the splitting up of the man page, I have long since had an idea a
kin to 'man perl', but have never broached this with the developers.
I think what's needed is a summary page.
One line per command, so people can see quickly what's available and where to
look furthur.
Currently, whenever I start an application, it appears in the current
page, and not in the page where it was invoked. I guess that is the
default behaviour of every wm out there, but I wonder if it wouldn't
be nicer to have the application windows appearing by default in the
page where they were

Is it possible/doable to have the pager display both a window's icon and

the code a bit and didnt succeed except for right after restart.

I don't know what kind of Sun hardware you have but I know
a U5 won't be fast enough.

Wondering why it's a Maximize option instead of a ResizeMove.

I think you are referring to the colormap flashing you see on
8 bit displays. That comes from the application using a private
colormap. I think the word private is key. I don't know that fvwm
can use it. If it did attempt to use it, I don't know that fvwm could
allocate any colors in it. If

I did have to add --with-iconv-library=no and hand remove debian from
the Makefile list to get it to compilethings i didnt have to do for 257.

I just built CVS on Solaris 8 with no issues.

Ive changed mine x-pager.c to show a sliver of root along the bottom.
Real solution whould be to change color of active/inactive windows for
the active pagemaybe lightening/darkening the colors.

In Solaris, i also find that if i switch desks or pages between the time
i launched the app from a menu and the time it creates its window, the
app will appear on the desk/[age i'm looking at rather than the desk/page
i was on when i lauched the app.

I've recently installed XFree-4 on a laptop and slapped fvwm-2.5.3 on it.
I copied over my trusty .fvwm2rc (carryover from fvwm-1.22 days) and made
the standard system-specific tweaks. One disappointing item of note is that

No, you have to replace GotoDesk and Desk with MyGotoDesk
everywhere.

if you decide to click on the pager to get to another desktop, your

Dont know if this is the same thing, but is the make -k install-strip to
remove the dedebug symbol tables? I just change -g -O2 in configure to -O3.

Problem introduced in snapshot 401.
Style * BorderWidth 5, HandleWidth 5, ResizeOpaque, StartsAnyWhere, StaysPut,
showstopper: hangs - and when hung, have seen app, fvwm or x-server being
the one using cpu.
I cant get fvwm to show debug info, but when it hanges,
these routines are on the (where) stack...
XCheckIfEvent
_XEventsQueued
I still see border/titlebar discrepancies sometimes.
Affects xview
re: (xview) program generated resize doesnt take effect till mouse is over
titlebar or border.
This doesnt occur in 20020331. Resize takes effect immediately .
This problem occurs in 20020401.

I don't see a relation to fvwm.
The 3 times i saw it hang, logging in from outside,..

problems w/ this snapshot:
(previous release used was fvwm20020326 on solaris 2.5.1)
I still see border/titlebar discrepancies sometimes.
fvwm pager, which was heavily changed between fvwm20020326 and fvwm20020401
now has the top and left edges bordered by FvwmPagerColorset foreground.
Hqvent seen the 20020326 border problem yet w/ fvwm20020401,
but now the (xview) program requested resize (request while mouse is inside
program window) is held off until the mouse is over the title/border.

I got tired of not being able to see the separators between pages that had no
visible root, so i hacked FvwmPager to keep windows away from separators.
Basically i widen the separator. shift all windows to the right, and cut
back on the size of windows hitting the right edge of page.
