I'm in the same boat as the OP, still using an eMac as my main
computer, though I do have an intel macbook available for when I
desperately need it. I've been looking at used Mac Pros, as I am a bit
tired of the non-upgradeability and repairability of the all-in-one

browser?
I have to say that I am unlikely to go to a web only forum very often,
I like the old school mailing list way of doing things.

On the leopard system, there's nothing to repair, the drive is fine.
On the jaguar system, repair won't do anything because the drive is
journaled.
I don't think there is actually any problem with the drive, this is
some inconsistency between the two systems that the older system can't
