Hi all,
I wish to run Photoshop version 7 on my G4 Powerbook 17 running Os X
10.5.8, however Pshop will not install as the Classic Environment is
not present. My G5/1.8 dual proc is running OS x 10.4.11 and I have
no problem with PS 7. I understand this is to do with OS X 10.5

I'm no Photoshop expert, but I thought that Photoshop 7.0 and the update 7.01
were carbon apps that ran in both Mac OS and also OS X natively. I don't
think you need the Classic environment to run Photoshop 7.01 in OS X, is
should launch within OS X
(File menu in Finder) on the PS7 icon, you should see in the middle
of the Info window an option like Open in Classic environment: make sure
it's off, and try again.

umm now its been ages since i really messed with classic, but wasnt classic
removed from 10.5/.6/.7 ? i know it was from .7 as 10.7 was Intel Only thus
unable to run anything from PPC macs.
Classic was discontinued with 10.5. 10.4.11 is the last version of OS X to
support Classic.
