Do you have the OS install discs? If you do, here's an option: back up all your
information, media, pictures, whatever, is yours. Delete everything once you
have it backed up on another drive or whatever, and go about reinstalling (and
in the process wiping your drive of anything; a)
From someone who used to work in recycling computers I would not
delete the OS.
The reason is that it costs a fair amount to buy the os to reinstall
on the old hardware. Particularly if like the place i worked there is no
Mac experience thus no OS disks.

There are some utilities that will zero out a hard-drive. I presume you're
interested in removing any old personal data.

Follow Tina's instructions and you should not have any problems.
Another easy solution is to remove the hard drive and keep it for
yourself and sell the system without any hard drive. This is done
often by many sellers.
