That's why I buy using the USP Mail. You can phone and get all the info on the
front ... rather than from the local 'All Brands Computer Store. There you hear
the Oh, I, au, T-widy jabberwocky from a teenager that isn't even familiar
with a Mac.

I first encounted that about 1987 with one of the very first big box outfits
that cliamed to sell Apple Macintosh computers. In truth, the Teenage,
Pimply, PeeSee, MicroSuck, Nerds, Would talk down the Mac and try to switch
them to a PC. For the first six months, everytime I went in there I'd stand
around and eavesdrop by the Macintosh section; sometimes it was irritating
enough that I would butt in.

Dear Customer,

The box for this card was designed for a series of controller cards.
Some of which did support Mas OS 10.5+.

Unfortunately this is one of the cards of the series that does not
support Mac OS.

We apologize for the delay.

Thank you for your patience.

I'll check ox86 when I can get in, they appear to be over accessed

At least the local vender says he'll refund my money the next time I make the

So beware and check syba products on web before purchase.

If you mean VirtualBox, VirtualBox is an x86 virtualizer, not PowerPC. You
may be able to run 10.4.11 on VirtualBox, but it has to be the Intel version.

MDD G4 Start-up Issue

2014-08-17 Thread Michael McMurtrey
Lately, my MCC G4 refuses to start by means of the start button on the
front of the computer. I have to open the case and reset the PMU in
order to re-start. I suspected the PRAM battery might be bad, but it's
a new one that is outputting 3.67 volts. What's up?

Why would anyone want to emulate a PPC G5 when the real Intel build of 10.4.11
is available?

The 2012 Mac mini came with OS 10.8.1 pre-installed. I do not believe that it
will run 10.4.11 directly, which may be why the OP asked about emulation.

Some of which did support Mas OS 10.5+.

Unfortunately this is one of the cards of the series that does not
 support Mac OS.

As I pointed out on H Q-A (where this question was originally posted), the
Silicon Image series of cards was supported NOT BY Apple, but by SI
itself.

SI dropped OS X support many moons ago, and the SI host bus adapters are
NO LONGER SUPPORTED, nor are they supportable.

The current offerings of High Point, the RR622 specifically, ARE SUPPORTED.

Rosewill USED to offer its RAID systems with the SI card, but it has since
switched to the High Point card.

The Rosewill RAID systems use a SI port multiplier chip internally, but
it does not require any host support. It may be driven by any host which
has port multiplier support, certainly including the High Point RR622,
or, indeed, some host motherboard chips, like those found on some LGA 1366
motherboards.

The MDD's will run without a battery in them, My MDD's will occasionally not
start so if I unplug the power cord  in the back and plug back in they start
with the button. It may be a PS issue but mine have been doing this for years.
