Is it possible that the firmware on the B/W has not been updated yet? I just
went through that on a recently acquired B/W G3. It would not run with OS9 and
I did not have one of the versions of 8 or 9 installer CDs that boots this
computer. But, it would run Tiger just fine. It has to be bo

Off topic but
We were concerned with this ability of PayPal to lock an account for our
non-profit org so we use a separate account and then just transfer funds
in/out as needed - Paypal cannot lock that account so we don't worry and if
they lock the used account there is little affect on the orgs

It'll run Tiger just fine with the G3 350 mhz CPU in it. I'm running
10.4.11 on a 300 mhz iBook Clamshell with just 576 megs of ram
(maxed). I can't say it's a speed demon, but it runs surprisingly
well. I would recommend a minimum of 512 megs of ram for Tiger - 1024
megs even better!

Recommending 10.3 for any but very specific compatibility issues is a
bad idea, IMHO. It's becoming increasingly incompatible with the
modern OS X world.

Hi all!
Thanks again for your help getting this old Yosemite G3 B&W (PowerMac1,1) to

i recommend 10.3 with 1.5 GB Ram or at least 756 Ram. Buy SSD Ram's from
Ebay. 512 MB sticks x3 or 256 MB sticks x 3. Probably you have 128 MB x3.
Forget them.
