Re: iTunes G3 radio playlist servers?

2012-08-18 Thread Illirik Smirnov
I don't actually own one, but a friend of mine has it and enjoys it quite a
bit. Videos are fantastic, but when I loaded the same FLAC on both a Galaxy
and my Zune and played through same headphones, the Galaxy definitely was
worse, although not as bad as the iPod Touch (much better, in fact). I'm
not sure how syncing works on Mac with em, though.

Do you have a Samsung galaxy player?
I was looking at them as a DAP to replace my cowan d2.

Hi-Fi world mag (UK)_reviewed it as the best one from a group of
iPod classic, touch, Phillips, cowan and a Sony.

Er, it is *probably* not a crossover cable. I guess there could be
some
pathologic DIYer who uses patch cable but wires it up in reverse. My

Got lucky on the orange cable this one is a crossover but it doesn't
say on the cable but the colors don't match on the ends.

Thanks for the help every one, The Quadra to G3 and G4 via Ethernet
is running perfect. OS 9 made it easy. 10.4.11 seems to be a real PITA
with the AFP deal.

In addition to all the other suggestions, make certain that the iMac is
turned on and ethernet cable connected before you power up the Q650. If
the ethernet circuitry in the Q650 doesn't see a connection fairly early in
the power-on process the system won't activate the connection. This used
to make getting a connection between two 68K machine with a cross-over
cable loads of fun -- required booting three times between two machines.

Re: refurbishing my new (to me) Dual 1ghz Quicksilver G4

2012-08-18 Thread Jonas Ulrich
I had a similar problem with a Dual 500MHZ G4 tower a few years back, and
pulling the processors and cleaning the contacts is what did the trick.
Amazing how much problems dust can cause... Now whenever I get a new to
me computer, I pull it all apart and blast it with compressed air, and
re-apply thermal compound after cleaning out the old goop.

iTunes redirects

2012-08-18 Thread D. Fabel
Hey all! New to the group.

I just learned about Apple's discontinuing their redirects in iTunes. Wow...
Or should I say, Ouch! While I'm glad I can still find and add streams to
play, it is tedious to locate and replace them manually. Does anyone have any
recommendations for adding streams back in bulk?

Thanks,
Doug

Right. iTunes.app is NOT broken. Apple made this change *on their
servers* and discontinued the redirection/tracking service. So all
the previously saved streaming items in your playlists point to the
wrong URLs now.

Yes, you can install up to 10.4.11, but you'd better max out the RAM
at 1 GB, and even then you won't get any smooth video playback in OS
X, but for general browsing it would probably suffice.
