Unresponsive Script: Javascript Packed

2013-03-05 Thread Judith Berkowitz

Hello,

When using Mail as webmail in TenFourFox, Safari, FireFox I always get
this message at least three times. This has been happening for many
months now.
It occurs when I hit Reply, Forward, and also when I hit Compose new
message.

How can I fix this? I figure if the javascript is packed, I can
somehow unpack it!
Thanks so much!

This is just the name of the script, there's no unpacking to do.

This means that your old web browsers on your old system are taking a very long
time to run this script, or may be hanging when they hit this bit of javascript.

You may be better off setting up your iCloud email as an IMAP mail account in
the actual Mail app as per:

http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/how-to-configure-access-icloud-email-anywhere-with-imap

this removes all the javascript processing issues entirely.

Wireless router set-up

2013-03-05 Thread les simo
Hi,
I have a G4 Sawtooth and a G4 Powerbook both running OS X 10.4.11. I have a
naked DSL line and my ISP is Verizon. Recently I received a Actiontec
GT784 modem/router. I wish to use wired Ethernet on the Sawtooth and
Wireless on the Powerbook. The physical connection is very straightforward,
however I cannot connect to the Internet. The ISP provides no manual or
instructions. An help is appreciated
Cheers, Les

In general, the WAN side (to your ISP) is directly connected.

The LAN side (to your Intranet) can be wired AND wireless.

Simply go into your router's setup panel, usually by directing your
browser to 192.168.1.1, and establish your wireless protection means, with
WPA or WPA2 being recommended.

Select strong passwords/passphrases for BOTH the admin access to your
router AND general access to the same.

There are very good pseudo-random number generators available to assist you.

Gibson Research Corporation ...

https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm

... is one.

It's likely your router may need a firmware update before you place it
into action. You'll need a Windoze PeeCee to upgrade the firmware. The
current non-ISP specific firmware is NCS01-1.0.8 available here:

http://www.actiontec.com/products/product.php?pid=215

I wish to use wired Ethernet on the Sawtooth and Wireless on the
Powerbook. The physical connection is very straightforward, however
I cannot connect to the Internet.

Use the manual on the link above. You'll need to use the browser-based
setup with your Verizon password to get the router to automatically
connect.

Yah: that's it; it's usually hanging... Several looong hangs.

Hi Bruce, and thanks,
After iCloud went live the first thing I did on my own machine was set
it up in the Mail app via
For Tiger 10.4.11: http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/
icloudmail2.html
For Leopard/Snow Leopard: http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/
notes/icloudmail.html

but the machine I'm using now isn't mine. So I'm using the webmail
version.
And that's the problem-o.
