Re: G5 kernal panic, anyone want to decipher?

2013-08-01 Thread gifutiger
Perhaps you might want to get this program which will stress test your
CPU's to find out if they are having a problem.
There a many choices so be sure that you get the correct one.

Greetings,

Perhaps you might want to get a CPU stress test which will show if one or
both of your CPU's are having a problem.
You can find one of the best CPU stress test programs at;

Also look at OWC:

They have SATA and IDE/ATA drives of more modest capacities for older

Re: SATA Internal HD for G5

2013-08-01 Thread peterhaas

It's only the 4TB flavor which is 5900 RPM. The 3TB and lower speeds
are, I believe, all 7200 RPM. At any rate, that's what newegg claims
in the chart they have on their product page for these drives.

I stand corrected, sort of.

It is indeed the 4 TB which is Desktop.

The others, at least those which are 7200 rpm (there DO exist Seagate 3 TB
drives which are NOT 7200 rpm, and those are apparently also Desktop) are
called 7200.14. Most probably from the 14th incarnation of a 7200 rpm
drive family, that which was formerly known as Barracuda.

So, at this moment, there are these drives Desktop HDD.15 4 TB, 5900 rpm
and7200.14, all others from 3 TB down, and all of those are 7200 rpm.

Quicksilver- Graphics card won't go in Tab Slot

2013-08-01 Thread TriumphNut
I have two quicksilvers. The one with the 125GB Sonnet Daughterboard went
out. Think the fan Quit and it Toasted the Chip.

I Pulled the Ram, the 5 port USB2 PCI card, the 4Port Firewire PCI card and
the

*NVIDIA GeForce2 MX with 32MB of SDRAM *Graphics PCI card to switch to

my other Quicksilver. only problem, the Tab on the Graphics card won't go
into

the Slot. I've carefully bent the tab both ways and it still won't go
down.The

Contact Strip will go in fine just the outer mounting tab lacks a good
quarter inch

Going down. I've been going inside my Mac's since 1986 and this is the
first

time I've been stumped with this.

I have software that won't work with my Intel Mac Pro Tower.
May be forced to buy another Quicksilver on eBay.

Unresponsive script warning on Facebook

I get this message every time I try to use Facebook:

I'm on a PPC mac mini running 10.5.9, using TenFourFox as my browser. A

I have gotten those from time to time on my 2011 mini with firefox. It
means just what it says. There is a script on the page that for whatever
reason will not run in your browser. It usually is because the java for
your machine is not up to date or you lack some plugin. I usually just
click to kill the script and the page may still be viewable but since I
don't facebook I can't say how that works. I think the most likely thing
is that the java installation on your ppc machine is not up to date and I
don't know that there is anything you can do to fix that. I could be
wrong though as my quad g5 is suffering from water cooler problems and
not working at the moment so I've not used TenFourFox in a while.

Re: Quicksilver- Graphics card won't go in Tab Slot

2013-08-01 Thread NODEraser
First of all, the Quicksilver had an AGP video card, not PCI. There
were also two generations of the Quicksilver, made in 2001 and
2002--but both should have the same universal AGP 4x slot (brown with
green retainer clip). Just in case, have a look at the slot and make
sure it has the correct keying for the card. The 2001 Quicksilver I
have has a universal slot, with no keying but other models might have
a keyed slot.

I just tried removing and reinserting the card in my Quicksilver; I
had no problems... You should only have to move the tab a little bit,
the top should be slanted to deflect around the tab in the card. Also
make sure you're not catching on anything, sometimes the end with the
ports doesn't fit in the hole quite right.
