Re: alg5 accidentently deleted a folder and emptied trash
Hi Charles, You might wish to check out the Wondershare website (mac-file-recovery.wondershare.net/). They seem to have excellent products at very fair prices. The only issue would be if their program would work with 10.5.8. In any case, you should not use the affected hard drive until you recover the lost data. Any new information saved to the drive will overwrite what has been erased. If Wondershare doesn't have a data recovery program that handles 10.5.8, perhaps they could recommend one, if you contacted their customer service. Good luck, Bob C. -Original Message- From: Charles LeningtonTo: Sent: Sun, Mar 6, 2016 6:32 pm Subject: alg5 accidentently deleted a folder and emptied trash Bruce oh wise and wonderful My daughter accidententally deleted a 100+/- gig folder and emptied trash. Re: alg5 accidentently deleted a folder and emptied trash
What James said. Stop using that computer. I recommend Prosoft Data Rescue https://www.prosofteng.com Actually what I REALLY recommend is maintaining regular backups and restoring the deleted stuff from backup :-), but I try not to rub it in too much in these cases. Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner make this very simple to do, and Time Machine is free. Restoring with a utility like Data Rescue is tedious, expensive and time-intensive. Get an external HDD, plug it in and let Time Machine do it’s thing. It has saved my butt numerous times, and once it’s set up and running you can just ignore it until you need it. > On Mar 6, 2016, at 4:36 PM, James Knightwrote: > > Stop using the hard drive immediately. > > There are commercial utilities available. Re: alg5 accidentently deleted a folder and emptied trash
Stop using the hard drive immediately. There are commercial utilities available. You will have to look for one that still supports 10.5 or has an older version available that will support 10.5. It's also possible that you could mount the disk from a more modern operating system and use such a utility from there.
