I have ordered a CF to IDE card from ebay. I'd like it to replace my old
hard drive on the Performa 5300.
Do I just install it and and then install OS 8 from the CD drive?
DO I have to do anything else that I wouldn't do if it was a normal HDD?

I have some ORB 2.2GB Disks by Castlewood. They were written from a
desktop Mac in the late 1990s using an external burner drive.
Today i use a Windows laptop and a desktop Linux machine. The laptop
runs Vista and the Linux machine runs Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
