Why would I get it on this page?
Also, how do I stop it?

Is Google.com in the whitelist for NoScript?

Adblock is oriented towards blocking ads, Google itself usess a
large Javascipt library, and so even their basic page has some
javascript running.

What happens if you go to this page with Safari?

It could well just be a FF problem. Clear your cache, clear your history.

FWIW, I cannot reproduce any such script slow errors, even on my
300-MHz Smurf, with Safari or Firefox 3.6. I'm thinking maybe he's
foo'd the settings in AdBlock or NoScript or some other add-on or
plug-in.

Nope! I don't mess with the settings.
I rarely mess with my other add-ons unless I need to enter info (such as my
location for the Windfox add-on or the email address I use for Webmail
Notifier)
