Re: Attempting to send ClarisWorks spreadsheet via email

2009-10-30 Thread Geke

I have ClarisWorks 4, which can import from CW 3, so I could do that
conversion for you, if the file is not confidential.
Or you can send me a similar dummy spreadsheet first for testing.
But the main question is what program your friend has for opening the
file???

On the other hand, your ClarisWorks should be able to save the
spreadsheet in Excel format or some spreadsheet exchange format, like
DIF, but you'll lose formatting and stuff. At least my CW4 can do
that. What version do you have?

Attaches fine, sends fine, dl fine, but file will not open calling CW!
If CW is open, it will not open file.
 Did the following:
 1. Direct attachment
 2. Ziped it
 3. Put file in folder then ziped it
attempted other conversion files, none work.
 What is wrong?

Like Brian said.

The second thing is are you sure the other party hasn't got
Appleworks, which is what ClarisWorks became before it was terminated.
I don't know if Appleworks can open old ClarisWorks files.

AppleWorks can open some ClarisWorks files. Not CW 3 and older. They
need to be converted by a later version of CW or a utility. This may
also be true of CW 4 files. But CW 5 files should open just fine.

FWIW my old Appleworks 6 still works fine under Snow Leopard; if you
 want a copy, email me.

One can upgrade CW to latest AW with online downloads from Apple.

What kind of OS environments are you sending from / to?

Are the filenames the proper syntax for both machines? especially the
suffix?

Sending it Zip'd sort of implies their machine is a Windows PC?

2009-10-28 Thread Richard Gerome

I don't think ClarisWorks works in OS10 I had ClarisWorks in my Performa 475
and AppleWorks came out I'm pretty sure during the OS9 days??? And another
thing I know if who you are sending it to someone doesn't have ClarisWorks they
can't open it and I'm not sure if they have AppleWorks they can convert it and
open it??? If they have a PC with Windows running Word I know for sure they
can't open it... I wrote a book and used AppleWorks and I couldn't get it
published because they couldn't read it at all and that's why I had to get
Microsoft OfficeX... AppleWorks works in OS9 and up (now I know it works with
Snow Leopard too! Thanks for that infoSanta)...
