I changed to a newer driver for my Yamaha motif es8 digital keyboard, connected as a USB device, and now when I turn on the motif es8, my attached QS Dual 1GHz Powers Up. (OS X 10.5.8). Weird? I've never noticed this happening before. My QS is not in Sleep mode ... an installed M-Audio 2496

Looks like it's time to move up to a G5, if you really must run CS4. It happened to me, too, not with Adobe CS but with Final Cut Pro. While any of my G4s would run Final Cut Express, when I wanted to move up to Pro, things got very iffy. My newest G4 ( a 1.42 GHz FW800 MDD) would install and run

If that's Apple's reasoning, I think I would've preferred a fourth RAM slot instead of a fourth PCI. Of course, at that time, Apple probably saw no need for anyone to use more than 1.5GB of RAM. I don't think it'd hurt anything for you to go ahead and try the installation to see if it works. If
