Re: Power mac G5 2.5ghz

2009-09-08 Thread Ralph Green

Howdy,
I would not want it. But, it is a pretty nice machine in some ways.
You say it has no leak issue, but these machines seem to develop that
over time. If you want to use it for several more years, you should
monitor that cooler.
I know I am on the lookout for an inexpensive G5 tower that works well.
But, I want an air-cooled one for longer term reliability. That does
restrict me to 1.8 GHz speed, as I understand.
Good luck,
Ralph

Well in a home full of computers for light tasks as you describe I would
say sure. The most speedy mac I have ever owned is my decked out dual
533 digital audio I'm on atm. It's a hell of a step up from the 6500/250
from way back in the day.. Running 10.4.11 is it my email hub, school
research and homework machine as well as EveOnline logicistics for my
corporation. Lives just fine with wth other linux boxes in the house.
Microsoft free for 11 years and counting thanks ;)

If you want to have more fun, you could try getting one of your X86's
to run OS X...
