Welcome to obsolescence, you're 4 major versions of OS X behind the current
one, about to be 5. Both Apple and Adobe are getting more aggressive about
bugging you when you have outdated plug-ins, but won't give you up-to-date
plugins for your long-deprecated OS version.

The latest Sibelius scorch plugin is available here:
http://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/download/get.pl?com=shprod=scorch and is
supported under 10.4.11

The latest QT that works with 10.4 is what you have, 7.6.4
The latest Flash and Shockwave plugins for Tiger are what you have as well.
The Musicnotes one is marked as 'unknown', so it's not likely a problem.

Of the notices you have the most problematic is Flash. Flash is everywherem,
but they've dropped support for older Mac OSes.

Your system is more than capable of running 10.5 which should get you better
support (although that one is deprecated as well).

You can disable ones you don't use; I'll wager shockwave is little used these
days and unless you have a specific web site that uses it, very few websites
use Java, either. (Remember Java is NOT JavaScript)

Or just use a browser (safari) that doesn't nag you.

plug-ins update problem

2012-05-31 Thread jazpersn
Hi, Y'all,

Using a PowerPC G-4 (3.3) Dual Processor MDD 1.42 Ghz machine

For a couple of weeks now I have been getting a Notice of vulnerable
or out of date plug-ins used by 'this page'. This page being almost
any on-line page. I have not noticed any real problems on any of these
pages. However, when I dutifully try to update the ones listed, I get
a variety of info: Adobe stuff tells me Apple has its own Adobe pages
or I am told that Apple Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 is no longer
supported by Adobe. When I check into Quick Time stuff, my machine
tells me my Quick Time player IS v.7.6.4 (SEE BELOW) and other Quick
Time stuff IS v. 7.6.4
I did attempt to do Java plug-in updates but didn't feel like I
succeeded.

How important is this particular stuff? This information below comes
up on a Mozilla page that results when I click Update Plug-inson the
top-of-page yellow notice bar line that I have been getting. I DO
update almost everything that comes from Mac software update pages.

If this stuff does not need to be done or if it is usually taken care
of by Mac software updates, how can I keep this yellow bar notice from
popping up constantly? That notice is at the top of the page at
present as I am preparing to send this eMail! Hopefully, TIA Jim
