Booting up Gaim without flushing ~/.gaim causes me to be unable to login to my AIM account. The groups and (cached?) buddy lists can be seen, but it cannot log in. DIAGNOSIS: Comparing the old and new accounts.xml shows that, in Gaim 1.5.0, an AIM account uses <protocol>prpl-oscar</protocol> whereas Gaim 2.0 beta 6 uses <protocol>prpl-aim</protocol> Changing the contents of the protocol tag in accounts.xml fixes the problem. SUGGESTED FIX: Gaim should automatically recognize the obsolete "prpl-oscar" and change it to "prpl-aim" when it loads accounts.xml. Though deleting and re-adding the account solved the problem, Gaim should really fix this automatically. Specifically, when <protocol> is "prpl-oscar", Gaim trunk crashes on startup. If the field is changed to "prpl-aim", Gaim works fine. Attached is a stack trace.
