Summary: buddy icon animation

Initial Comment:
For many animated AIM buddy icons, the animation slows to almost a crawl.

I am probably suffering from the same bug:
I use gaim mostly with MSN, and it seems that animated smileys are
animated even when they have been scrolled out of view. In effect, this
causes gaim to use increasingly large amounts of CPU when conversations
become longer (and more smileys have been used).
Closing the conversation window brings CPU power back to normal.

This is on Linux with at least Gaim 2.0.0 beta 3 to 6.

Please don't mess with the priority.
Please attach an example buddy icon that you're seeing the slowness with.
