Category: win32 Group: 2.0.0 beta 5 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: letolto (letolto) Assigned to: Mark Doliner (thekingant) Summary: Contact List deleted Initial Comment: Hi. I had a serious error with Gaim 2.0.0.0 beta 5 I was trying to sort my contacts into different groups, but it does not go anywhere. I couldn't add my existing contacts to different groups. I load my ICQ 5.1 and I sort my contacts with no problem. Than I switched back to GAIM but I get an error report, and all of my contact were deleted for ever. I tried everything but they are gone in Gaim and ICQ to :( I dont know what to do, leave Gaim, and just use ICQ, or is there any patch or fix for Gaim? ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: anonuser123 (anonuser123) Date: 2007-02-20 00:13 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1723938 Originator: NO Hi, I just had a partial contact list deletion happen. I am using gaim 2.0.0 beta 6, with Windows XP SP2, with all the newest security updates. Sequence of events: I had a group named 'Ho-mies', and just for fun and to emphasize the Ho-ness of the people under that list :-P, I decided to rename it HO-mies (i.e. capitalize the 'o'). So I right-clicked the group title on the Buddy List window, selected 'Rename' from the pop up menu, and renamed it. When I pressed enter (or clicked elsewhere, I don't remember), I got like 20 or so error messages. Like for the original poster, there was one for every contact I lost presumably, saying the same thing about the maximal number and my list being full. The result was that I lost a majority of my contacts. There was no pattern to what I lost that I could tell: there was some I lost that were online at the time and others that were offline. There was no alphabetical order to the names that were deleted, since the ones that remained had ones that started with a's and down to r's, but one that was deleted started with a 'c'. Maybe it could be the fact that AIM is having problems with adding new contacts, but if that is the case, then maybe gaim can not delete the contacts before it *successfully* is able to re-add the contacts to the newly renamed group? I'm not a programmer, if by renaming a group, gaim actually creates a new group, copies the entries, and deletes the old one, then maybe it can be fixed.. I dunno. I hope my report is suitably detailed: please comment and I set the flag to monitor this, if I can help in any other way I will respond ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: letolto (letolto) Date: 2007-02-03 15:45 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1642590 Originator: YES Hi, sorry for the late answer. Unfortunately I do not remember the error report sent by Gaim, but there was an error message for every my contact I lost, that there is some trouble and they can not be added to my list, and it can be caused, because the maximal limit of my contacts is full... or something like that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mark Doliner (thekingant) Date: 2007-01-27 11:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=20979 Originator: NO AIM and ICQ have been having problems like this lately. I suspect it's just temporary. What did the error from Gaim say? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100235&aid=1645838&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
