Initial Comment: This can be found at: http://www.jabber.org/jeps/jep-0096.html This JEP allows for reliable file transfer even with clients behind firewalls (NAT or not). tkabber supposedly has a working implementation. As an aside, I have tried proxy65 (http://proxy65.jabberstudio.org/) for jabber as well, but couldn't get gaim to work with it. I couldn't find documentation for client configuration on this, so I could have not set it up properly. Thanks, Jamie Strandboge -- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-04-12 12:17 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO As we are closing this tracker, please submit any feature request that is still valid to http://developer.pidgin.im. Thanks. -- Comment By: Dominic Lepiane (dlepiane) Date: 2007-03-29 18:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1756640 Originator: NO AdiumX RFE 1966 seems to depend on this, so I'm seconding the request for attention on this feature from the Great and Gracious Gaim Gods... http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/1966 -- Comment By: James Roper (jamesroper) Date: 2006-06-19 02:13 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=583214 Are there any updates on the status of this feature request? -- Comment By: james s (jstrand1) Date: 2004-10-22 09:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1112230 I read JEP-0096 more carefully, and now see that my understanding was wrong-- JEP-0096 is still client to client. So... I got my proxy65 server working with tkabber and psi, and can confirm that gaim receives file transfers reliably, but cannot send them. We have deployed a (small) private jabber installation at work, and I am recommending gaim as the client of choice, since it runs on so many different platforms, and it is multiprotocol (and because I like it :)). File transfers are not a big issue right now, but I know that it is something that my users will want. I have downloaded the latest gaim, psi and tkabber to see if there is anything I can do-- but I do not have a lot of time at this point. I would like to help in whatever way I can though. Are there any preliminary patches I can test? Thanks, Jamie -- Comment By: james s (jstrand1) Date: 2004-10-15 19:23 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1112230 Sorry for the noise then. I (and others) have not been able to get file transfers to work with jabber on gaim (I don't have the bug number right now), and couldn't find anything stating that JEP-0096 was implemented. People often simply say "it must be a firewall problem." Looking at the spec, I thought that JEP-0096 would be the answer. My understanding is that if the two clients can communicate with the server, then file transfers should work via JEP-0096. Is this correct or am I missing something? Thanks for your time. -- Comment By: Nathan Walp (faceprint) Date: 2004-10-15 17:25 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=17471 JEP-0096 has been implemented for some time now. We can receive from someone using a proxy65, but currently gaim can't send using one. That's been on my TODO for entirely too long. -- Comment By: james s (jstrand1) Date: 2004-10-15 15:22 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1112230 yes, sorry. I didn't see where to do 'wishlist' or 'RFE' so I put it in the bug tracker. -- Comment By: Stu Tomlinson (nosnilmot) Date: 2004-10-15 14:55 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=309779 This is an RFE, not a bug. -- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=1047920&group_id=235 - Take Surveys.
