Summary: Slow file transfer with msn protocol

Initial Comment:
The file transfer under the msn protocol is very slow.
When the transfer starts it's 2-3 kb/s and after some
time the transfer stops it.

I tried both the transfer from a gaim client to a gaim
client and the tranfer from gaim to microsoft msn.

Adding comments from #1017247 (digistorm - digistorm79):
I've got an upload bandwith of 1024 kbps, but my MSN
filetransfers never go faster than 4 or 5 kB/s ... and
yes, the other person also had broadband :)
I remember from MSN that it should go faster than this.
Is this a known bug?

I think that this is a problem which also happends in
windows msn 2 windows msn transfers. This is caused by the
system used by MSN to send files: the file is sent to a MSN
server and downloaded by the other peer from it. The msn
server is slow, maybe intentionally to avoid movies or music
being sent across msn. In the past, direct connection was
used instead, which unabled people behind a firewall to use
this function. I think that, maybe, direct sending could be
added for those using Gaim2Gaim if Gaim detects that one of
them is not behind a firewall (he would act as the server
side of the connection).

I don't know what's a RFE so take what i said like an advice ;-)
I THINK file transfers is important, but the developments
are you and you can do what you want.

No, doesn't look like a bug. It's an RFE.

What's more, I believe this report is a duplicate.
