Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: gtk-ui Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: pinkisntwell (pinkisntwell) Assigned to: Sean Egan (seanegan) Summary: Having a default keybord language per contact Initial Comment: It would be very useful to have a default keyboard language bound to every contact. I'm Greek and I chat with Greek people and foreign people. So when I'm chatting with both kinds, I have to switch my keyboard back and forth between English and Greek. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-04-17 15:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO As we are closing this tracker, please submit any feature request that is still valid to http://developer.pidgin.im. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ilya Konstantinov (ikonst) Date: 2005-03-27 13:36 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=335423 It's possible. The question is - how hard it will be to implement, or - more important - how much code should be added to Gaim to implement it. This feature is clearly more global than just a "Gaim thing", so implementing it privately in Gaim would be the wrong thing to do. What keyboard switcher do you use? GNOME's? Did you try asking the maintainer of your keyboard switcher to make it remember the language per-input field? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: pinkisntwell (pinkisntwell) Date: 2005-03-27 09:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1233342 So it isn't possible at all? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ilya Konstantinov (ikonst) Date: 2005-03-26 20:00 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=335423 Many keyboard switchers nowadays remember the active keyboard layout per-window, but Gaim's tabs confuse them. Unfortunately, I doubt those keyboard switchers support any way of hinting them. Then again, it's not Gaim's responsibility to deal with keyboard layouts. On X, it can get pretty messy... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=1157477&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
