First of all: Thank you for Gaim, it's a great program which I use almost daily. But I think, you could improve the usability alot by a small change in the way you display offline users. I have 43 users in my buddy list, not a very big number I guess. I have choosen, that offline users arn't displayed, but from time to time I like to look up a conversation log, the user details or something else of an offline user. Then I have to select Buddies -> Show offline Buddies, scroll down to the specific user, because my list is alot longer now. Afterwarts, I have to disable this again. My suggestion is, that the first entry in each group is called Offline Users and is an unfoldable list off all users of this group, which are currently offline. That way, you have only a few additional entries, if you want to select an offline user, if you use the groups proper. Also, I think that this is way more intuitive for new users, which might not find the option to hide/show offline buddies. I've made a screenshot, how this might look like. Is this able to be implemented into gaim? It still needs to be contactified, but that'll be done shortly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: jjgan (jjgan85) Date: 2006-06-10 09:05 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1135679 I like this idea too and I think that can be used to set alert on offline user. But I suggest to group offline user in a special group at the end off the contact list (like MSN messenger) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: pholie (pholie) Date: 2006-04-16 09:53 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1321263 I like the idea too :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=1470847&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
