Summary: smart sound
Initial Comment:
This is not a bug but a suggestion to enhance gaim.
Most of the time, I don't want sounds when I send or receive a
message. But there are some circumstances when a sound is
useful to catch my attention. The sound option "Message
received begins conversation" is great cause that's one time I
really want a sound. Another moment I would like to have a
sound is when I receive a message in a conversation that has
been idle for a while. Often I discover that a buddy sent me a
message 10 or 20 mins ago and I just missed him/her.
What would be useful is to have another sound option: "Message
received while conversation was idle for more than X mins"
where X is configurable.
Thanks.
AB.

Grim: this is the sort of thing that perhaps
gobjectification could make easier to do a 3rd party plugin
for.

your best bet would be to write a plugin along the lines of
the timestamp plugin to play the sound.

I'm in KDE and I use the "command" method with the sound command
"artsplay %s".
Hope this helps.
