Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Justin Szeto (jssf) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Please consider new name for ScreenName... Initial Comment: Hi guys/gals. I am new to Gaim as at 0.74, and congratulations to you all. I have already converted some others. But, as a new user it took me a while to work out that when adding an account that screenname was your user ID for that protocol. Wouldn't a better name be something like User ID, Email Address, or Account Name, anything. It took me 20 minutes of fiddling just to finally get my Yahoo messaging online, and I am afraid a little less patience = less users of your app. (Actually, I did give up but came back again and gave it another shot!). I have the same experience when getting people to move over to Gaim. "Screen Name" to me sounds like a display name or alias, rather than /the/ ID. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=859402&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
