Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: anders (aconbere) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Developer diary Initial Comment: I would love to see a real developer diary. Lots of us who use gaim never hear anything from the developers about what they are working on or progress that's being made. It would be nice to have a place where even the most sceptical of sorts could go look and see what was being worked on. I know that personaly when it starts to get to be a long time since the last update I wonder why it's taken so long. anyways maybe something like botg's filezilla developement diary, http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=64 it gets updated whenever any new developement is made, or when he thinks people deserve an update. I makes me feel more secure about the progress being made. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Christian Hammond (chipx86) Date: 2004-05-29 21:06 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=5989 I will be setting up a Planet IM for those IM developers on any projects who keep an online journal. Any gaim developers who wish to be on it may be added, though I don't think anybody but me keeps an online journal. If enough gaim developers do, a Planet Gaim would be possible at some point, but Planet IM is probably the closest you'll get, aside from just sitting on IRC. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2004-05-24 11:09 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 no, expect you to realize this request is a little rediculous. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ficoos Bangaly (ficoos_bangaly) Date: 2004-05-24 04:48 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=826938 I just had a brainstorm. maybe create a tracker like the bug tracker. when each subject is a feature, plugin, patch, ETC. and the develper will fill his thoughts and progress and will get feedback and even ask people to debug his plugin. it's a very simple and not thet time consuming method. Further more its a very simple method for new Gaim developers to join the fun. P.S I know thet each plugin can create his own SF project or open a forum subject but i belive my way is more orgenized for small scale sub projects(plugins) and for tracking each feature sepretly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ficoos Bangaly (ficoos_bangaly) Date: 2004-05-24 04:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=826938 I think so too. Do you expect people to log to #gaim and ask "What's going on with gaim?" and then someone will start to list everything made since the last time you asked the same question? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: anders (aconbere) Date: 2004-05-22 15:32 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=907868 not suprising at all... I'll take a gander (though I would still like some kind of little developer dialog that is more readily available than IRC) thanks Anders ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2004-05-22 15:25 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 there are 75-100 people idling in #gaim on irc.freenode.net (well, there are always over 100 people, but some times more of them are idlers than others) for much this reason. we are an im client, is it surprising that much of our discussion takes place over the messaging protocols we work with? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=958649&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
