on my yahoo messenger i have to set the client to
"behind firewall no proxy"...but gaim doesn't give me
that option, and i'm not able to log into my yahoo acct
on gaim at work.

The "behind firewall no proxy" option is implementing by
connecting to the yahoo server though http requests. From
what I've read, it wraps YMSG packets inside HTTP POSTs and
actually makes a separate HTTP request every couple minutes
to see if there's new messages. I think there's a java
library that implements this and describes it in more detail.

I'm not behind a firewall, and if I was I would hopefully
have a proxy, so I probably won't get around to implementing
this anytime soon.
