Category: None Group: gtk bug #143537 >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Lee Trager (nukem996) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: gaim dosnt fill in background for last character Initial Comment: When ever im typing in gaim with my text red and the background black the last letter does not get its background to be black. If for example I type "test" "tes" will be red text with a black background but "t" will be red text on a white back ground. After a few seconds of waiting though the hole thing does turn black. It gets very annoying. I filed this in the gentoo bugzilla(http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48816) and they told me to go here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Gary Kramlich (amc_grim) Date: 2004-10-09 01:09 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=646554 for anyone still following this.. The bug has finally been read by the gtk guys. They're targeting a fix for gtk 2.4.12. The full report can still be found at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143537 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Vadim Berezniker (kryptolus) Date: 2004-08-12 00:12 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=60363 I am having a smiliar problem with my program. It only happens in my program if I apply tags from within a "changed" signal of GtkTextBuffer. It works fine if I apply the tags somewhere else. Just wanted to give a heads-up in case it's the same problem. (If it is, you should add a comment to the gtk bug indicating that it's due to the text changed callback) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Lee Trager (nukem996) Date: 2004-06-01 23:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=525741 After using gaim for the past few days it seems to be happening much much less. Infact it hasnt happened at all today. I have no idea whats going on. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Gary Kramlich (amc_grim) Date: 2004-06-01 15:52 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=646554 I just reported it to gtk and the report can be found here http://bugs.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143537 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Lee Trager (nukem996) Date: 2004-05-31 23:25 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=525741 This does seem like a problem with GTK its still happening in 0.78. I the tech details to write a bug report to GTK could one of the developers please do one? Thanks nuke ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Lee Trager (nukem996) Date: 2004-05-14 14:35 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=525741 Ok lets report it to GTK Id do it but my only thing is I dont know enough about what gaim calls to GTK to make a good bug report. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Gary Kramlich (amc_grim) Date: 2004-05-14 11:51 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=646554 I'm suspecting gtk as well. But as it is, I can't seem to find another gtk app that applies a tag with background color support, so it's not really testable.. When I was running gtk 2.2.4 it only happened if I flooded it. And it still wasn't consistent. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2004-05-14 11:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 i'm going to suggest reporting this to gtk, as i cannot duplicate it AT ALL on gtk 2.2... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Lee Trager (nukem996) Date: 2004-05-13 20:39 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=525741 That dosnt happen to me. No matter what character in what case I type the last character always has no background for a few seconds. I dont know what other GTK 2.4.x app use the same kina text input with back grounds and such as gaim. I was thinking we could test other GTK 2.4.x apps and see if they have the same problem. I am a programmer myself and it seems more and more like a problem with GTK but ive only seen it in gaim. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Gary Kramlich (amc_grim) Date: 2004-05-13 19:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=646554 I just installed gtk 2.4.1 and I can reproduce this but I've found some inconsistency with it... First off normal characters [a-z][A-Z][0-9] are fine.. and while characters like '[' are fine their shifted chars '{' seem to have the same problem. So in short it seems to be a problem with handling the shift key.. but it also happens with space, so I'm not sure where we want to go with this.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Don Seiler (rizzo) Date: 2004-04-26 11:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=61900 I can reproduce this. nukem996 and I are both using gtk+ 2.4.x. I believe marv is on 2.2. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Tim Ringenbach (marv_sf) Date: 2004-04-26 00:23 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=790708 That's odd. grim tells me he can reproduce this, but I can't. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=680472&aid=942086&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
