Dear all,

two mails containing viruses have just been sent to GainsNet
1. from Enda America Latina
2. from the Society for the advancement of women.

!!!!!Please do not open the attachments and delete these mails immediately
!!!!! The two senders have been informed.
The first virus is the W32.Badtrans.B@mm , second virus has been identified
as W32.Magistr.24876@mm

Some information on W32.Magistr.24876@mm can be found on the web site of
Symantec:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.magistr.24876@mm
.html
Info on W32.Badtrans.B@mm can be found at
http://www.antivirus.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_BADTRANS
.B

Since there has been a number of virus infected mails to GainsNet recently,
we think of turning the list into a moderated one. This would mean that all
postings will be sent to the list maintainer (since I will soon be leaving
INSTRAW, this will be my colleague Jeannie Ash de Pou) and can be screened
for viruses before they are sent out. This way, also innapropriate postings
can be avoided. I would very much appreciate your opinion and feedback on
that matter.

Many thanks

Maren
