i gave you feedback on your github about dependencys
As Master branch is a dev branch which has no release, there are many
areas we didnt have time to see if they work and how they can work with
python3/GTK3
as notify is not a hard dependency just dont include it if there is no
package
Old gajim ebuild (gentoo package) has optional dependency on
dev-python/notify-python, which is not available for usage with python
3.x. (I haven't tried doing this forcefully yet).
In translation files, I see mentions of python-notify:
