[galaxy-user] Upload file size and user authorization

2011-03-22 Thread Paul-Michael Agapow
Two questions, either of which may belong more on the developers list. But lets try here first: 1. As we migrate services to Galaxy, a stakeholder expressed concern at uploading large datafiles of several gigabytes. Given that we can require users to upload from an ftp site or something

Re: [galaxy-user] Loading files to local Galaxy

2011-06-07 Thread Paul-Michael Agapow
From: Tilahun Abebe tilahun.ab...@uni.edu We are trying to load Illumina data to our local Galaxy instance. The files are between 700 MB and 2.2 GB. Files below 2 GB load in less than 5 minutes. Files larger than 2 GB don't upload at all. We installed Galaxy locally because we thought

2011-06-17 Thread Paul-Michael Agapow
Gaurav 1. Is there any help file explaining directory structure and what all configuration files used for? The Galaxy wiki is the best place to go for these things, as Louise-Amelie said. You should be able to ignore most things in the config files initially as they will just work. You can

[galaxy-user] Uploading bulk data to user accounts

2011-08-08 Thread Paul-Michael Agapow
So, I'm trying to setup a smooth pathway for our users to import their NGS data into Galaxy. I'd hoped for a solution that would require zero interaction with an administrator, but things seem more awkward than they should be: 1. We can automagically push produced NGS data into a user import

[galaxy-user] Galaxy installation contractors in UK

2011-08-11 Thread Paul-Michael Agapow
Perhaps a better question for the dev list but: It looks as if we are going to be getting a small lump of money to upgrade our Galaxy instance for wider use within our division. This will course mean setting up a new server and installing Galaxy, but there are some other things we'd like:

[galaxy-user] Tools appearing without inputs in workflow editor

[galaxy-user] Finding Galaxy version

2011-12-13 Thread Paul-Michael Agapow
A perhaps obvious question: how do I work out what version of Galaxy an instance is? This has come up a few times because of apparent bugs and different behaviour across various development and production instances. Now if you're installed straight from the repo, you can use hg log for the

[galaxy-user] Toolshed initial upload errors out

2012-04-10 Thread Paul-Michael Agapow
As per the title, I'm trying to setup a toolshed for our local use. After creating a repo, I try to upload the initial file only to get: TypeError: array item must be char Which seems to happen repeatedly, i.e. it's not a passing error. While I'm here, a perhaps obvious question: where or

[galaxy-user] Downgrading toolshed tools

2012-11-14 Thread Paul-Michael Agapow
Just today, we had a case where we wanted to rollback to a previous version of a tool that we'd installed from a toolshed. (No big reason except that our latest fix actually broke the tool.) Is there a way to do this? I could have sworn there was but couldn't find it in the admin interface. --
