This issue was corrected as of the Nov 4th Distribution. It was part of the incorporated Pull Request #222, listed as item #5 in this section of the News Brief:

To reply to threads, subscribe to the list as a member, (filter these off into a sub-folder), then when you want to reply - do this as usual via email making sure the list is cc'd.
