In windows xp (and I believe 7), it's in the control panel under display, all you need to do is select the resolution in the list box and hit enter. As I said 800 x 600, or 1024 x 768 are sort of the normal ones. It is entirely possible your resolution is quite okay, I just wondered sinse

Arrows on their own let you look around the map to see what is where, while Shift and arrows move your ship one square in each direction. I suggest you check the documentation at http://www.valiantgalaxy.com/tks/documentation.html for the full list of hotkeys, although there aren't many.
