Hi Dark,
I see what you are saying, and I guess what I was trying to point out
that some games are just character specific. For example, Tomb Raider
is and always has been about Lara Croft's personal story. When Edos
Interactive added a male playable character in Angel of Darkness it
did not go
crawl called Gauntlet I believe.

Hi,
Maybe, but the fact is that I haven't written any other main
characters into the game script. Since Angela Carter is considered to
be the main character I think it would be weird to play as anyone
else. To me adding extra playable characters would kill the plot.

I guess it depends on the length of the game. it's kind of like how
some devs add unlockables that make no sense, just for replay value.
I don't personally agree with the concept, but it could work, and it
would add that replay value.

Hi,
To me the ability to play or select different playable characters is
dependent on the story more than anything else.
For example, if we had a Star Trek FPS game you might want to play
that game from the perspective of different characters. Each would
have extra features or abilities that
Hi Dark,
Well, I suppose it could be a combination of factors why we don't see
something like multiple characters in audio games.
For starts, you need to remember that the majority of blind game
players and blind game developers have little to no experience with
mainstream games. That lack of

Hi Decota.
I think part of the reason is that most modern games either have characters
who are hugely different in every way to the point where playing the game
becomes an utterly different experience, as in fact is the case with a
lot of modern beat em ups where everyone has their own

Hi Dark,
Yeah, its not a coding issue. As long as you plan to have multiple
playable characters you can easily create some generic stat variables
that are set depending on which character you are playing.
For example, I do this very thing in my WWE wrestling game. I've
currently about 40 super
Hi Tom.
That is perfectly true and in fact the way you've built the wrestling game
sounds extremely logical, however this wasn't exactly what I was thinking of
when I raised the topic of multiple characters, sinse your wrestling
game, even though it is obviously themed around wrestling,

No Kieth, I'm afraid the mutants game I play is deffinately offline. It's
what I believe in your post you refer to as a pen and paper game, though
more properly is usually called a tabletop game (both myself and the gm use
laptops and I use the gma dice program).

Hi Dark,
Yeah, I understood what you were getting at. My basic point of using
my wrestling game as an example is that the programming techniques are
identical to those I'd use for Megaman, Golden Ax, Ninja Turtles,
Mario, or any other game where there are multiple playable
characters.

I strongly agree with you on this.
It doesn't take a lot to turn a game, whether for the audio or video
genre, into a smash hit, when you take minor things, like simple
differences in character, and make them noticeable.
I'd love to see different characters with different stats. It's my
favorite
Hi Dark,
Oh, I definitely agree this is a feature lacking in current audio
games. Part of it is game story of course, but I fully agree that it
can make a big difference in game play just by modifying a few stats.
One of the mainstream games like this that immediately comes to mind
is Teenage

Hi.
Yesterday, as a break from testing Eamon deluxe, I fired up my Snes and had a
less than successful go at Super Mario brothers two, and just to be clear
I don't mean the lost levels.
As people may know, in that game you can choose to play mario, Luiji, Princess
or toad.
