Okay, this is just to let people know about a mud I've been trying out
recently.

The mud is cosmic rage cosmicrage.nathantech.net port 7777. There is also an
official soundpack for vipmud, type @soundpacks in game for the most current
link (remember the at sign, ie :).

?

The mud is run by Nathan smith, who's a member of the audiogames.net forum,
though the mud has a growing number of both sighted and vi players, plus it has
a team of dedicated builders. It's been up since july of this year, and the
progress is quite astounding.

To those who've played muds like miriani and star conquest, cosmic rage shares
a few of the same principles, but is extremely different in feel, for a start
there is no unrestricted pvp.

The game is set in space, with you playing as one of four races, human, dragon
(yes space dragons!), cy-larken, (a robotic race), or the ryuchi, human/dragon
hybrids.

In the game you do various activities to raise in rank, ---- 45 different
activities actually with new ones being added. Activities start off with fairly
simple planet based things like hunting, hand mining, and digging into volcanos
for ores (being careful of monsters of course).

They then go through piloting trash collection trucks and volcano harvesters,
up to several activities involved with boats and boating, harvesting gasious
pollution from planet's atmospheres to eventually getting a spaceship.

Once you have a ship the real fun starts. Combat missions (and combat in this
particular space game isn't too tough), as well as activities like orbit
cleaning, passenger transport etc.

One thing I really like about the space flight aspect of things is that there
are aa lot of details and realistic touches, for example setting your heat
shields for landing or launching from planets occasionally getting your ship
damaged by small dust particles in space, and little alien ratica, ---- nasty
little creatures that invade your ship when your doing innocuous activities
like orbit cleaning.

With the huge number of activities, the game certainly doesn't feel grindy,
however there is more as well.

There are npcs with quests on offer to ind them various items or slay enemies,
there is ground combat against monsters, there is lots of crafting and even
building factories.

The game has an rp policy, but it's not overly stringent, though I will advise
people to make sure to ask any b"where is" type of questions on general chat
channel rather than the newbie channel (this one rather confused me, but hay
it's just one different command).

I'd highly recommend this one, especially if, like me you didn't find yourself
able to get on with some of the other space games, this one is much more about
the fun activities, rp is there for those who want to, and pvp again is
restricted only to specific arenas. Plus, I have to say levels come very very!
quickly, and there are so many activities the game doesn't get at all grindy,
quite aside from the quests, crafting etc.

all the best,

Dark.
