Re: [Audyssey] Accessible rpg engine

2009-09-29 Thread Dickson Tan

Hello

I was refering to the TBG engine, not the mud creator. I download the mud
creator and found it more inaccessible than the TBG. Sadly, I understand
from what is written on the site that the mud creator will replace the now
abandoned TBG. I'm not going to start trying to create any text games using
the TBG as I'm still waiting for more news about the new audiogames
scripting engine that Philip is now testing.

I find Basic4ppc to be the best for starting programmers, with enough

can compile for the desktop also, and because it is so much like other

[Audyssey] Wii Sports Resort

2009-09-29 Thread Ken
I've been playing Wii Sports Resort a lot lately and wanted to give you the
heads up on it.

First of all, it's made by Nintendo apparently, or whoever did the original Wii
Sports, and is just as accessible (or inaccessible, however you look at it.)
The package comes with a little box containing a tilt ball which knows
precisely how you are holding your wrist, and other than the fact that you have
to calibrate it from time to time this is an awesome addition.
The company has shamed itself though--they proved how badly they did on the
first, (only five games,) by putting twelve games on this one.
Skydiving and Power cruising are, as far as I can tell, totally unplayable for
a blind person. Sword play is hard for obvious reasons, but still fun. The
computer is awfully easy to beat in dual mode.
The frisby games are very good if you have a sighted person telling you where
the target is--eleven o'clock, etc. In frisby golf, you have to point at the
frisby you want, but each makes a different sound is panned from left to right,
so knowing exactly which you are on before you click is easy as well. Table
tennis is easier to play than real tennis, believe it or not. Cycling is fun,
especially when you beat your sighted friends. When you get out of breath,
there is a sound effect to let you know, which is different for each player.
Golf and bowling are harder than ever, and now they have introduced 100-pin
bowling. You'll still do better with sighted help with both these games, but
you may find yourself schooling your sighted friends easily with some practice.
My favorite game on there though is basketball. You can dribble, pass, and
make baskets easily, ranging from a 3-point shot to a slam dunk, and it often
tells you how many points you or the other player got that round and whether
the game was tied.

Hi Bryan,

Correct. Like I said in my last post Keberos is the Greek spelling of
Cerberus. Cerberus is the Latain version of the word that was in the Roman
writings with the same creature. They mean the same creature, but I felt
using the Greek name was more appropriate for this game.

You will often find this with a lot of Greek myths. There are the Latin
translations and the Greek translation of the works. The name of the
character you use depends largely on if the English version was based on
the Latin or Greek manuscripts. Heracles and Hercules are both names for
the same legendary hero. Hercules, the popular name we use, is based on
Latin works. Where his real name, Haracles, is Greek.

Anyway, seeing as this game is from Angela's perspective I think she would
know the difference between someone's Latin and Greek name. If this is too
confusing for player's I can name the creatures by their more popular
Latain/English equivilants, but aI thought it would be more fun to use the
actual Greek names when and where possible.

Hi Ryan,
Kerberos is the Greek name of Cerberus. It is a three headed dog that
guards the gates ofHades. Infact, a lot of people think Cerberus is spoken
with a soft c, like an s, but actually it is supposed to have a hard c,
like k. So If it was spelled like it is pronounced it would be Kerberus
regardless if it was spelled Kerberos or Ceberus.

[Audyssey] Finally! A Victory!

2009-09-29 Thread Hayden Presley
Hi,

I finally beat MOTA. I couldn't kill Kerberos, but I had enough health to
sneak past him. Also, the trick with using view and the fire pits worked.
Just remember, don't assume that just because you've moved one step, you've
moved one meter!

use the exit program menu option in the main menu or did you try to

Hi,
That's right. Actually 1 meter is around 3 steps so that should help you
gage the edge of the fires, lava pits, and other traps in the game. I
plan to make the view scan easier in beta 8. Since a lot of people find
using v and scanning using the menu something of a pain.

[Audyssey] MODA view

2009-09-29 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Thomas,
A few ideas about the view function.
When you hit v you could have five women discuss what the next step to take
should be.

Oh,no that is the View TV show.
How about if you hit v and arrow through the objects and it gives the
distance along with the name such as, Statue 10 meters, fire, 7 meters, fire
1 meter, cancel.

 Or,
You hit v and arrow to the fire object and hit enter.
Then each time you step it reports the view to the object you selected.
Fire 2 meters fire 2 meters, fire 1 meter.
This goes on automatically until the distance gets larger.
This could work for creatures too.
Real good game even with the current view function.
smiles,
Phil

Hi phil,
What I am thinking of doing is a look typecommand where you press v for

out how to interupt speech with the control key or whatever such a
command is ultimately easier than pressing v for view, arrowing to an
item, and pressing enter to speak it's location. I'd rather not use a

Hi Haden,
Can you send me a copy of the exact error message? I need details if I
am to solve or fix these errors. I'm not getting any and I need to know
exactly what you were doing when the errors happened.

Thanks.

2009-09-29 Thread Clement Chou
Another view suggestion... could you say have two ways to view? One way I
think would be productive is to have a modifier, say alt or something, and
hold that down and press left or right arrow, and it reports the closest
object, or a series of objects in that direction.

Hi Thomas,
A few ideas about the view function.
When you hit v you could have five women discuss what the next step to
take should be.

Oh,no that is the View TV show.
How about if you hit v and arrow through the objects and it gives the
distance along with the name such as, Statue 10 meters, fire, 7 meters,
fire 1 meter, cancel.

 Or,
You hit v and arrow to the fire object and hit enter.
Then each time you step it reports the view to the object you selected.
Fire 2 meters fire 2 meters, fire 1 meter.
This goes on automatically until the distance gets larger.
This could work for creatures too.
Real good game even with the current view function.
smiles,
Phil

Hi Thomas,
A good idea, around a fire pit should be cinders or ashes to step on.
The sound of stepping on salt ore flower could simulate the edge of a fire.

well what about change the ground noise when you get a step away

I know I am at the chasm when I hear the ledge and then jump to that ledge.

Hi,
That's right. Actually 1 meter is around 3 steps so that should

a lot of people find using v and scanning using the menu something of a pain.

I'm sure they're right. That doesn't stop me from disliking updated

been better and less of a money-grabbing strategy to save those
characters for the mentioned new installment)
