The part about shades not having an in game story, dark, is not quite
correct. I consider, myself, that a game having a series of objectives,

The best way to beat the boss is wait at the left end of the level, and just
use the sling on him. It takes 22 rocks to take him out, and I recommend you
do not use shields unless you're going after him. If you do, he's smart
enough to avoid you. By the way
