Re: [Audyssey] looking for an accessible version of risk

I am also instrested in that also the ulsas game.
Yes a board game of those could exist but never found one, used to
have a board made up.

I think it uses a standard card pack though it could have its own deck.
You can make up a board with foil card board and felt as long as you
get the squares right.

It uses dice, braille dice will still do it.
I think it uses counters not sure if they are plane or not, or even
if they need to be proper counters, ie could you use monopoly
counters since each player needed 1 I think.

Gone are the days where I and my family had any time to play any of these.
Both on computer.
Hmm jim?
Will you make those please?
Or will someone do that in bgt.
Thats a thought, there is the competition going I think.
I am to busy fixing pcs and doing other research jobs to actually
program though would have loved to enter.
I have not checked mail in 1.5 weeks and in fact will be trying to
clear the 1000 pluss messages tonight if I can.

Its hard even on the dos games.
I do think though that the aliens on the windows one are just a bit
to hard, you can almost never kill one or evade on for that matter.

But then in the dos version you couldn't easily escape those either.

hello i've played a few rounds of the mars windows game from richard

Might as well take the time also to say why I don't think so many people
personally attend. Those are just my thoughts, not everyone else, obviously.

Since you're just using some kind of voice chat client, you'd need to
probably track your progress, which may actually require you to make a
text file or something and update as stuff happens, while also trying to
follow along... I personally wouldn't find that enjoyable. Might as well
meat up with a few friends on Teamtalk, make a private game on RS or the
Playroom and just play that and still talk. It'd be quite fun too.
Also, not everyone is confortable with voice chat. english may not be
the first language for some people and it took me like 2 years to get
over the barrier myself.
And lastly, looking at the times, 8PM eastern probably is fine for
everyone in the states, but for me, being in GMT+1 (an hour ahead from
the UK) I'd have to basically wake up in the middle of the night and
play until early morning. I think I'd rather sleep instead if you don't
mind, especially if I have school the next day.

You know this may not exactly be what you are interested in, however you
don't represent the entire list. Myself I attend these events a few times

understandable that it won't be for everyone due to type of game/time zone

Re: [Audyssey] swamp problem with ammo count when unloading

2012-01-18 Thread Kelvin Tan
some time back, i actually thought of having another spare weapon in
reserve, which in that case then it was a mp5. i actually already own 1 of
course, and bought 1 more mp5 with my rep points hoping that in the event
that if the 1 i'm currently using gets broken by zombies, i will still have
another ready for me to load up and continue using that gun. and soon
enough, my mp5 was broken by a zombie, and the extra that i bought did not
turn up. so, i did another test. i spent 600 points to buy 2 mp5s, and then
went to donate items in the menu to have a look, and true enough, i only
still have 1 mp5.

it's the same for armors as well, i wanted to have a spare of all the 4 top
armor types, because armors are most often the first things zombies break
lol. but same thing, although i made sure i bought 2, but when i went to
donate items to take a look, there was only 1 showing up. hope this is clear
enough :)

keep up the good work man. i'm looking forward to pvp battle, as in i can
track and shoot player enemies of mine! and maybe, who knows, gang battle
where we can go like 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 or maybe more!- Original

What exactly didn't work? I'll try to fix it but I need a bit more info to
go on.

another bug to add. i tried buying 2
armors of each type, and also an extra
of the guns that i deam important for me, hoping that in
 the case either the
armors or weapon gets broken i can still have 1 extra in
 waiting. but it
doesn't seem to work. so more rep points wasted there.

Re: [Audyssey] Friday's Out of Sight events

2012-01-18 Thread QuentinC

Hello,
These are not only Peter's though. I agree with him.

Because english is a world-wide language, there are on this list many
people from many parts of the world. I'm personally eased enough with
the language to communicate with written text and be
reasonablyunderstood even if I make errors, that's why I have interest
to be on this list, but it's really not the case in oral. To give
another example, I participated in traditional RPG via skype and even be
dunjon master once, but I would never like to try that in english or in
any another language than french. It will probably be much too hard for
me to fully enjoy the game. And even if it's in written form, english
muds remain difficult for a non-native english speaker.

I think many people here think the same as me.

So a game relying essentially on voice chat wouldn't be as enjoyable as
one want because of language barrier.
If I have well understood, sorry if I have misstaken, many of your games
are based on letters, words, vocabulary, or general culture knowledge
skills (except your recent chess proposition). That sort of games suffer
even much more from language barrier than simpler card/board/dice games
for which the rules are allmost equivalent everywhere, additionnally to
the fact that oral require generally much better language skills to writing.

Infortunately, as a game maker you can't do anything against language
barrier. You can only accept that everybody don't speak english well
enough to play, and try to translate your games with the hope to get
more players. Of course in your case of voice chat based games you can't
make any translation, obviously.

The time problem is another one. For this one neither there is a
solution. There is always somebody across the globe for which the time
you fixed fall during the night or too late in the evening. The goal
here is to choose a time which goes for the most part of the targetted
players. For example if you set a time in the afternoon instead of
evening for the US, then it fall in the evening for UK, but bad luck if
there are australians... some french people on the playroom have set up
uno tournaments, I know how it could be hard to make verybody happy.

Re: [Audyssey] swamp problem with ammo count when unloading

2012-01-18 Thread Jeremy Kaldobsky
Thanks for the tip Kelvin. I've written this down and will try to get it fixed
soon.

some time back, i actually thought of
 having another spare weapon in
reserve, which in that case then it was a mp5. i actually
 already own 1 of
course, and bought 1 more mp5 with my rep points hoping
 that in the event
that if the 1 i'm currently using gets broken by zombies, i
 will still have
another ready for me to load up and continue using that
 gun. and soon
enough, my mp5 was broken by a zombie, and the extra that i
 bought did not
turn up. so, i did another test. i spent 600 points to buy
 2 mp5s, and then
went to donate items in the menu to have a look, and true
 enough, i only
 still have 1 mp5.

it's the same for armors as well, i wanted to have a spare
 of all the 4 top
armor types, because armors are most often the first things
 zombies break
lol. but same thing, although i made sure i bought 2, but
 when i went to
donate items to take a look, there was only 1 showing up.
 hope this is clear
 enough :)

keep up the good work man. i'm looking forward to pvp
 battle, as in i can
track and shoot player enemies of mine! and maybe, who
 knows, gang battle
where we can go like 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 or maybe more!-

2012-01-18 Thread dark

Hi Kelly.

Ah, appologies. In truth I've always been a little confused about your name
sinse in Britain while Kelly is a relatively common first name (and indeed
sir name), it's always a girl's name, your the first man with the name Kelly
I've heard of, which is why I assumed John was actually your first name and
that Kelly sapergia was your double barreled second name.

I'll remember in future.

Beware the grue!

Hello.
Thank you very much for taking in consideration my propositions.
I had another suggestion:
In uno game sometimes the game goes so fast that we completely loose
track when is our time to play.
It would be nice in a game like uno if you could have a beep or
something that tell us that it's our time to play because if we have to
always listen the screen reader talkinng until the end of the sentence
there is always some one who intercepts us.
Many thanks

[Audyssey] certainly! not! spam! - Thursday's Out of Sight events

2012-01-18 Thread Charles Rivard
Firstly, I've heard that some subscribers to this list think that I am sending
spam. This could not be farther from the truth, and I feel offended, because
at least one member that I know of hasn't even checked out the validity of what
I've been sending. I do not even read this member's posts to the list based on
past experiences with the person giving out eroneous and, in some cases,
downright false advice and information. I found out about it because of a
reply to one of this member's posts. Just to put the record straight, I send
these announcements, which I receive in my inbox, to game oriented lists, and
lists that have members that I think would be interested in the activities you
can take part in. Try the URL to find out more. For those who have not
searched on their own, or for those who just couldn't find it, it is

www.out-of-sight.net

Hope to hear you participating soon.

Now for Thursday's events, in their entirety:

[Audyssey] swamp 1.9 game crash

2012-01-18 Thread Steady Goh
Hi Jeremy, if i join a mission then donate a hunting rifle before mission
starts, game crash. i managed to reproduce this bug 3 times but everytime
forgot to copy the error message and i escaped out. sorry about that. the
message is around the lines of type mismatch.
I did the same thing but donating a benelli doesn't crash the game. Haven't get
to try with other items yet. Do you need the list of which items crash and
which won't?
