[Audyssey] posting to audiogames.net

2012-02-03 Thread dan cook
hi,
i know i could have probably mailed dark about this but i thought this
would be easier.
Just wondering, does anyone know how to get around the bot stopping
question when posting?
I've tried answering with capitals, spaces, full stops at the end,
quotations, you name it and it still won't let me through.
any ideas? I'd keep trying but i honestly cant see what the problem
is unless i've forgotten how to spell hello that is. :P

Re: [Audyssey] swamp error

2012-02-03 Thread shaun everiss

this stuff needs to be registered,
if you get the latest test version, there are a couple install batch
scripts in it, you may have to modify them path wise for the standard
swamp version but give them to her, one is for 64 bit 1 for 32 bit.
what ever system she has just get her to run the right file and
aparently it works.

I don't need to as I still have xp here.
At 09:30 p.m. 2/02/2012 -0600, you wrote:

She gets a error of:

run time error 339
msinet.ocx or one of it dependencies is missing or not registered correctly.

Can anyone tell me what would be causing this problem? She
registered the dx7vb.dll file.

Any help would be appreciated.

[Audyssey] Saturday's Out of Sight events

2012-02-03 Thread Charles Rivard
Good morning all!

Happy 4th Birthday Out-Of-Sight!
See below for all of the details about our birthday celebration for today! You
won't want to miss all of the fun! Five door prizes will be handed out as well
throughout the day!

Cancellation:
Sorry folks, OOS News has been cancelled. Many thanks go to Rick for hosting
this very informative and timely event! He has spent many hours researching
and preparing for this weekly program. Thanks Rick! Sorry to see you go.

Room Change:
Effective today, any Zilch game will be played in the, Come Roll Them Dice room.

Zilch Update:
Earlier today, Baby doll wasn't giving out the good numbers. In the beginning,
as the game went on Debi got game point, and we all thought she had the game,
but Sue Ellen zoomed passed her, and won the game by 50 points.

This evening, Sparky was being stingy with his numbers, but Patti went way
ahead of everyone to win the game.

I want to thank everyone that came out to both games today. We had a blast in
both of them.
Patti

like to call it the Conversation Peace. We'll discuss just about anything in

and find the words within a word. Hope to see you there.

Connect Three

because:

on TV, with Jeopardy, double Jeopardy, and final Jeopardy, with three daily
doubles and brain teasers galore. I'm looking forward to adding you to a team.

that demonstrates these ideas, and come on in and share it with us! If you do
not have the song you are looking for, or, are unable to play the song through
your sound card, please join us anyway. Willy will be helping us gather the
songs needed for this special program.

On Stage

8:00 PM eastern

[Audyssey] good chess article

2012-02-03 Thread Charles Rivard
FYI, an article on the recent event. URL follows and full text below:

http://www.engineeringnews.co.za/article/kasparov-opens-joburg-based-africa-schools-chess-foundation-2011-12-16

Kasparov opens Joburg-based Africa schools chess foundation

By: Kelvin Kemm
16th December 2011

The thirteenth world chess champion, Grandmaster Garry Kasparov, and his
wife, Dasha, visited South Africa as the guests of the Moves for Life
chess education project.

The objective of Moves for Life is to bring chess into as many schools
as possible. The schools range from the top schools, with excellent
performance and excellent facilities, to schools far out in rural areas,
with inadequate facilities and performance that varies considerably.

The playing of chess will benefit anybody, from the highest to the
lowest performers. Contrary to popular belief, chess is not a game only
for the bright, intelligent accomplished learners. Anybody can play.
Anybody who plays will benefit. The basic principles of chess are not
complex and a child can very rapidly learn to play. One can make a
comparison with a game like tennis. Anyone can learn to play tennis in a
day. That means bashing the ball over the net and having fun. Playing
tennis extremely well is . . . well . . . a different ball game, so to
speak. Same with chess. Chess is a challenge to the start-up player, but
it is also a challenge to a grandmaster. Chess offers a challenge to the
intellect, no matter how skilled or unskilled you happen to be. Playing
tennis extremely well takes years of practice. Same with chess.

The reason why Moves for Life is bringing chess into schools is that the
chess moves and associated chess logic patterns develop thinking
patterns in the child's mind that are the same sorts of patterns that
are used in maths and science. These logic pathways entail the child
mentally trying various options to choose the best one: Here is an
option that allows me three great moves but then I may end up in serious
trouble; on the other hand, I see an option that allows for three
mediocre moves but which will keep me out of trouble. This is the sort
of mental analysis that maths requires.

Kasparov says that, if one gets children into chess before the age of
nine, then one can make a major difference to their entire school
career. Moves for Life has found this to be true. I am one of the
trustees of Moves for Life and we have been training children from age
five. The results are dramatic.

During a recent trip around rural schools in KwaZulu-Natal to visit our
chess schools, we had schools reporting that school attendance had
improved since chess was introduced. This was terrific news. The
children want to go to school because chess is fun.

Kasparov certainly showed the fun. He played simultaneous games against
28 players. They were seated in a square and he was in the middle. For
personal entertainment, I was idly timing his moves, and he was moving
from board to board, taking between one and three seconds a move for
most of the moves. There was a massive crowd watching, spellbound. They
broke into spontaneous applause each time he knocked out the final dozen
players.

We were in the SciBono science centre, in Johannesburg, which is a great
place. It has a real Mirage jet fighter hanging from the roof, besides
many other fun activities for young and old. Some of the activities
involve science fun like kicking soccer balls that play musical notes,
besides other noise- making activities. When the kids got into all this
with enthusiasm, I was worrying that the loud noise would disturb Kasparov.
After the simultaneous games were over, we rather apologetically asked
if the noise had disturbed him. He said: What noise? He then explained
that, when he plays chess, he switches his brain into 'chess mode' and
nothing else in the universe exists during that time. He said he heard
no sounds - he just filtered them out. Very interesting.

We took Garry and Dasha to a few schools in the Pretoria and
Johannesburg areas. They told us that they really enjoyed the experience.

The patron of Moves for Life is President Jacob Zuma, himself a chess
player. On a few occasions, Kasparov has praised Zuma for his support of
the game and for his obvious understanding of the tremendous educational
potential.

The deployment of chess to schools is inexpensive and rapid. During
2011, Moves for Life brought chess to some 50 schools, trained 200
teachers as in-house trainers, and 7 000 children are involved in its
structured programme each week. Thankfully, some corporate sponsors have
applauded this and are supportive.

Meanwhile, Kasparov, in conjunction with Moves for Life, has started the
Kasparov Chess Foundation: Africa, based in Johannesburg, whose
objective is to bring the wealth of Kasparov's experience to Moves for
Life in South Africa, and also to expand the joint venture into other
African countries.

With passion, Kasparov explains how he wants a chess set in every
child's home

Just wondering, does anyone know how to get around the bot stopping

I've tried answering with capitals, spaces, full stops at the end,
quotations, you name it and it still won't let me through.
any ideas? I'd keep trying but i honestly cant see what the problem

Good morning all!

Happy 4th Birthday Out-Of-Sight!
See below for all of the details about our birthday celebration for today!
You won't want to miss all of the fun! Five door prizes will be handed
out as well throughout the day!

Cancellation:
Sorry folks, OOS News has been cancelled. Many thanks go to Rick for
hosting this very informative and timely event! He has spent many hours
researching and preparing for this weekly program. Thanks Rick! Sorry to
see you go.

Room Change:
Effective today, any Zilch game will be played in the, Come Roll Them Dice
room.

Zilch Update:
Earlier today, Baby doll wasn't giving out the good numbers. In the
beginning, as the game went on Debi got game point, and we all thought she
had the game, but Sue Ellen zoomed passed her, and won the game by 50
points.

This evening, Sparky was being stingy with his numbers, but Patti went way
ahead of everyone to win the game.

I want to thank everyone that came out to both games today. We had a blast
in both of them.

Patti
